Epoxy Chips
Color chips, vinyl flakes . . . or what ever you want to call them, can add a wonderful look to any concrete floor . Garage and basement floors are just a couple of the perfect locations that these applications are ideal for.
Instead of the common DIY epoxy and the small handful of color chips that you can get from you local hardware superstore, most decorative concrete contractors are offering high-solids, industrial epoxy products (along with a huge about of colorful mixed chips that can be embeded into the epoxy).
What does this mean for the homeowner? Well, for one – if you’re going with the professional application from a qualified concrete coatings contractor, you’re getting something that’s actually going to last! The stuff that you can buy from your local hardware store is typically a low-grade product that’s made with a lot of fillers (so the manufacturer can sell it for a low price to generate more sales).
Instead of looking like your floor has something on it that’s just a step above floor paint (with a couple of color specks unevenly thrown into it), wouldn’t it be better to have a floor that has a close resemblance to granite when top-coated? The answer to that question is obvious.
